Welcome to the Rainforest

This week, we have actually had a classroom again. We have had learning, laughter, and fun!
:)

On Monday, we did some review work, learned about continents, and oceans, and worked a little on our trees. I was real nervous by the end of Monday about how the trees and schoolhouses were going to work out. We were pretty behind, and not having much luck with anything! We tried paper mache to keep the tree trunks down on the base, and ended up with more water than glue, and lots of unstructured tree trunks. Phew! I didn't know what we were going to do! We also had a Mystery Google Hangout with a class who goes to school right dow the road from us! It was so fun to see the kids' reactions when they realized that the students were in the same state, and city. And, then it was even more funny to realize that one of Osvaldo's cousins was in the class! :-) So fun!!

Tuesday, we devoted the whole day to our rainforest School in the Sky projects! It was stressful, fun, messy, and exhausting. But, we made a lot of progress, and I felt better about the status of the trees.

Wednesday, I was out and the kiddos had a sub.

Thursday, we finished up our trees, polished up our portfolios, and learned about Canada. We also had a Mystery Google Hangout with CANADA! It was our first international Mystery Hangout, and it was so much fun!

On Friday,we finished our portfolios, and tress! We also presented our School in the Sky projects in the library with 2 of the other third grade classrooms! On our down time on Friday, we did a lot of Mystery State fun where the kids picked a state, and had to answer my questions to discover what state they were thinking of, and then vice-versa. I am so proud of how far they have come with geographical skills! It was so fun, and awesome to see them so engaged in learning!

Next week, The LAST week of school. Holy smokes! We have a field trip on Monday, Pajama day on Tuesday, Movie day on Thursday, and the last day is a half day on Friday! I am planning to do some Braille on Wednesday, and wrap up the school year with lots of smiles and laughter!

FIVE MORE DAYS UNTIL SUMMER!
